ABOUT ME

What’s up everyone! My name is Jake! I’ve been with Goodlife for three years now and I believe all our members should be able to use the gym to better their life.

I have a background in swimming, hockey and karate, however I currently compete in powerlifting and enjoy hikes with my dog Patrick.

I love working with clients to build strength & muscle for long-lasting effects that can benefit them for life. No matter your age range or experience in the gym, I would love to work with you through my 1-on-1 personal training or strength-based team training camps. We can work towards your fitness goals based on sports, hobbies and general strength building.

MY LIFTING JOUNREY

MY FITNESS JOURNEY

Growing up, my parents gave me many opportunities to try a variety of sports and activities. I was fortunate to do karate as well as played baseball and hockey. I also found a love for swimming, working my way through various levels, until I eventually began teaching a variety of ages from infants to adults.

While coaching the variety of ages and skill levels through swimming, I was able to teach foundational life skills of water safety and safe recreation and this is where my passion for coaching and training began.

After my time teaching swimming, I then went to college where I wanted to find a new and challenging physical activity.  I tried boxing, biking, HIIT & weight training

and settled on a mix between bodybuilding & crossfit training.

This style kept me motivated through the times of lockdown in 2020 and “home garage” training helped me to get to a great place where I could express my athleticism and push myself through new challenges.

During my time training in 2020,  I injured my lower back and avoided focusing on any compound lifting while I recovered.

Fast forward to 2022, I began working with my coach to shift my workouts & training towards powerlifting, with the goals of gaining strength, stability & eventually competing.

Since then I have competed twice and am currently working to better my lifts with the end goal of competing at the provincial level in 2025.

My journey isn't close to ending, as I progress I will continue to make updates here,

but if you'd like more frequent insights into my current training you can check out
